Increasing international participation

With Sainte Marguerite Island as its home port, just outside Cannes, the 25th Voiles du Froid organised by Climalife was once again a festival of relaxation and encounters, both sporting and friendly.

Setting out from the port of Saint Raphaël, under a sun that never left them, the 21 crews joined the Lérins islands on board sailing boats in the sponsors’ colours: Assurfroid, Climalife, Eurovent Certita, GC Magazine, Honeywell Refrigerants, ITE, Kelvion, Mobil SHC, La Rpf, Snefcca.

The Mediterranean accent of the few native inhabitants of this protected island was mixed with the accents of participants from far beyond our borders. This was enough to discover all the subtleties of Russian, Ukrainian, Hungarian, Romanian, Spanish, English and also Iraqi, Filipino and Mandarin vocabulary over the course of a weekend! After starting along the Esterel massif, the various regattas continued around Saint Honorat and Saint Marguerite. It is on this island, the largest, that the participants were also able to discover its past and all its beauty through onshore events combining sports, dexterity and sagacity of spirit! With the key to the opening of a chest with a combination just as mysterious as the famous Iron Mask that was imprisoned in the 18th century in the island’s fort.

For two evenings, in front of the lights of Cannes, on an island reserved for them, the racers were able to eat and prolong the party long after the last tourists had left. Among all these privileged guests, three boats stood out on the podium with ITE followed by Smef Azur and Paris in order of arrival. All ready to set sail again for the next edition, whose destination will be announced at the end of the year.
